Hey dear community,
I just registered at this forum, so, hi everyone
I hope you can help me setting the drives up. At my company we use Deadline as the render-management-software for a few machines. They all need to be connected to 3 raids. Everytime one restarts a machine the drive mapping has to be redone (when set up in Windows), so I thought Deadline’s feature could help me. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work as expected. I type in the drive-letter (e.g. “T”) and the path (e.g. “\oms\raid_T”) as I would type it in the explorer. Additionally I set the username and password. Now, when I start a renderjob the log says: 0: Error mapping T: to \oms\raid_T: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. The username and password are identical to the ones entered in Windows directly. I typed them in for several times now and compared them, they are 1000% the right ones. I don’t know how to resolve this Is it possible that Deadline cannot handle an exclamation mark in the password?
Thank you in advance for any suggestion.
p.s.: I just realized, when I connect to raid_T via explorer and type the username and password he connects and doesn’t ask for the authentification again. After this, Deadline can connect either (only without telling him user/password). As I would need to connect them manually after every restart, this can’t be a solution…
When you enter the user name, do you include the domain? For example, “mydomain\myuser”? If not, that might be the missing piece of the puzzle.
Cheers,
Hey Ryan,
thanks for the hint. I just wrote a message to the administrator, if there is another method to type in the username. I am waiting for his response now. I hope this works

Ok the log still says “0: Error mapping T: to \oms\raid_T: The specified username is invalid.”
Did you restart the slave applications after making the change? If not, it can take up to 10 minutes before the slaves refresh their settings and use the new login credentials.
Yes, i did…still no change Does anything else need to be restarted, after adjusting these settings?
I forgot to tell you the specs, maybe you need them:
WinXP Prof x64
Deadline 4.1.0.42706 (didn’t install SP1 yet, definitely trying this later, but need more info from the administrator)
I just tested this out here, and it appears that this feature is currently broken.
The user name and password are not being passed properly, which explains your problem exactly. This will be fixed for the next release, but unfortunately there aren’t any workarounds within Deadline to get this to work.
What if you created a batch file that runs as a startup program that unmounts and remounts all network paths? This seems to work great for us.
Cheers,
Yeah this was our workflow, too. I just wanted to get everything set up properly, that freelancers can just submit their jobs, without any drive-issues. Hope it can be fixed Thanks for your effort.
