Hi people, i was doing some test with maya krakatoa and i run into some probl with settings

1st i had a lots of flicker in animation
2nd i couldnt get the same results like i got in max, with same settings? particles were sharp, no nice transitions, shadows etc…

i cant upload prt file coz its ~500mb, but here r the images from max/maya, as u can see im loosing details in maya

Max

Maya

Given the EXACT same settings, Krakatoa MX and Krakatoa SR would render pixel-perfectly the same image (as long as the features used are supported in KSR).
So obviously there is a difference between the Max and Maya setup.

Can you describe your workflow in Max and Maya so I can understand how you got the particles into each one of them, how you set up the lighting etc.
Also note that it is possible to re-enable the Python Export inside of Krakatoa MX 2 (we remarked the UI portion, but the exporting code is still there), so you could generate a KSR Pythob file from Max and we can then compare line by like with the Maya output.

I would suggest looking at the scene scale first - Maya tends to use vastly different units, and it is possible this could affect the lighting and the rendering.

Hi Bobo and thx for quick reply

well this is how everything was done,

prt was generated inside naiad  and imported into maya, coz of the scene scale i had to scale the prt loader dummy inside maya 100x (i think maybe this is causing the probl)

added spotlight and thats it,

same thing was done in max too, but without scaling the prt loader (default scale)

let me know if this may help u on any way, if not then ill try to upload some files so u can compare them

thx

p.s. just checked its not the scale probl… im going to upload the scene file so u can compare, one more thing the max krakatoa is not mx 2.0 its some older ver i think 1.5 or so…

I don’t need the PRT file, just the MAX file with the PRT Loader/lighting/KMX settings and the Python output from Maya for value comparison.
I might replace the PRT with any file I have and try to figure out why the render differently.

Good, here r the scene files max/maya 2012

just to let u know the max render was done using krakatoa 1.5, and i just dl the mx 2 and i got the same result as in maya, but i like the result i got with krakatoa 1.5

now i cant find the settings in mx 2.0 to get same render as in krakatoa 1.5 :frowning:

Do you have any Emission in the scene?
The way Emission is scaled by Density changed in Krakatoa 1.6 - there is an additional control that affects the Emission independently from the Density.
I will download it, but I cannot promise I will be able to run in 1.5 (although I might still have it around).

No, emission is off, ull see when u open the scene, its simple

its ok with me, u dont have to open in krakatoa 1.6 just some guide how to get the same/similar results

thx Bobo

I think i found it

i feel so stupid, i just turned on the Use Emission flag, and i got the identical results

sorry for trouble Bobo, if u ask me i would delete this thread

cheers and thx again for help
