Material disable in viewport?

I have a Krakatoa Mtl assigned to a PRT Loader. If the PRT Mtl is invalid, nothing is drawn in the viewport. Is there a way to prevent the Mtl from being used to generate the viewport colors?

The Mtl is perfectly valid at rendertime, just not in the viewport.

Does the Ignore Material checkbox in the PRT Loader help?
And how do you get an invalid Krakatoa Material? What is invalid about it?

Ah, missed the checkbox. Sorry.

I have a KCM setting the TextureCoord, and it is set to Off in Viewport. The Mtl contains a map using that mapping channel.
