Hi Bobo and friends,
i think i found a bug or some isolated case, there is a thing
scene is very simple, i have a (prt) particles falling on the floor, as you can see in maya viewport

when i render this as particles (no matte floor)
[URL=http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/845/partnomatte.jpg/]
particles with floor matte
[URL=http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/11/partmatte.jpg/]
as you can see everything is ok
voxels no matte

voxels with floor matte

Oh! Perhaps there is a problem with occlusions using our voxel renderer. I will take a look to see what I can find.
I tested it on a scene. It appears to work for me.
I have attached a scene that uses voxel rendering, and has a matte mesh. Can you try it to see if it works for you?
If it does work, is it possible to send me a scene that demonstrates the problem? Or perhaps steps to reproduce it?

Hi Conrad,
I’m download your scene now, let you know asap
cheers
p.s. works fine,
here is a my scene, inside a scene there is a small particle system, play a bit till ~50 frame
hit render (matte is off) and you will see particle volume render
turn on the matte and hit render again, and you should see the probl
good luck
thx

Hi petkovic,
I downloaded your scene.
I ensured render mode is set to “voxel”.
I rendered it with matte objects disabled, and it rendered correctly.
I rendered it with matte objects enabled, and it also rendered correctly for me.
Are you using the very latest release version? I am testing it with the version that is currently available on our website here: thinkboxsoftware.com/krakatoa-my-downloads/
It appears to work with the current version, but it may be broken with previous versions.
Thx for your time,
i think i have the latest ver , let me get it again and ill let you know
cheers
no, i still have the same probl,
are you sure that you are not using some custom build , kidding
i manage to fix the bug, i have deleted the floor and made a new one, so now everything is ok
thx for your time Conrad
Deleting and re-adding the matte fixed the problem? Interesting. I wonder if untagging the object as a matte, and then re-tagging it would also work?
I tried your scene and played around with it, and wasn’t able to reproduce what you’re seeing. If anything like this comes up again, please let me know. I’d like to get to the bottom of this mystery.
