If i save a geometry as matte object AND save particles to file sequence afterwards Krak crashes on render
if i set the matte back from “Load to Disk” to “Named selection Sets” it works just fine.
But when i FIRST cache the particles and THEN cache the matte everything works like a charm!
So is that the way to proceed? first the particles then the mattes?
if that is so this is no bug report at all and the thread can be deleted
kind regards

I could not reproduce this in 0.9.10, I guess I need exact STEP BY STEP description of what you are doing. Also make sure you describe any particle system and geometry you create so I can follow these steps exactly.
For example
*Open Max
*Assign Krakatoa
*Create a default PFlow
*Create a Sphere
*Go to Matte Objects rollout
*With the Sphere selected, save Matte objects to a file
*Select Save Particles To File Sequence in Main Menu
*Specify a save path
*Right-click SAVE PARTICLES button, set frame range to 0-100
*Press SAVE PARTICLES
Result: …
Also, I am not sure why you are using Save Matte Objects (of course, you are free to use it if you want, but Selection Sets are the way to go). The saving to disk is there for compatibility with the Stand-Alone version of Krakatoa we use at Frantic which runs outside of Max and thus requires Matte Objects to be saved to disk and passed to it as sequences.
Inside of Max, using saved sequences only makes sense if you saved them from one scene and intend to use them in another instead of merging the actual scene objects…
Of course, you should be able to use any features in any order without crashing Krakatoa or Max or both.
If we can repro the problem, we will log it as a bug and fix it.
It is better to report suspicious activity than not to - that’s what we are all here after all :o)

i wasn´t able to reproduce this issue with the latest build either! so everything seems to be okay now i tested it with a former version…
i usually use the selection sets for matte stuff. i just wanted to click every button once during my tests so i gave “saving to disk” a try
