Maya 2025, Deadline 10.2 and Arnold

Hello,

Unfortunately I’m seeing a number of errors with rendering a simple Maya 2025 scene (using Arnold) from Deadline.

First, when I submit the scene from within Maya 2025, the submitter opens up fine but then once it’s time for the Confirmation Window to pop up I get this error instead:
// Error: file: //xxxx/DeadlineRepository10/submission/Maya/Main/SubmitMayaToDeadline.mel line 2768: Could not find deadline_submission module

FWIW I get this error when I submit from Maya 2025 on the two PCs I’m testing.

The job still starts in Deadline and the workers appear to be rendering. However, even tho the job gets submitted, the workers fail to write out images. Here’s the log:

Importantly, if I submit the file directly from the Deadline submitter, there are no errors AND the frames are rendered and written to disk.

If I submit the same scene from Maya 2024, the submitter works fine and one of the machines renders fine. The other fails - I think the pertinent line is:
2024-08-20 10:49:36: 0: STDOUT: 00:00:39 1836MB ERROR | [color_manager_ocio] could not read ‘<MAYA_RESOURCES>/OCIO-configs/Maya2022-default/config.ocio’ OCIO profile.

I checked this file - it’s the same as on the working machine, so I don’t know what’s different.

From there the failed machine skips loading the color space, lights and objects. Here’s the rest of the log:
2024-08-20 10:49:36: 0: STDOUT: 00:00:39 1836MB ERROR | [color_manager_ocio] could not read ‘<MAYA_RESOURCES>/OCIO-configs/Maya2022-default/config.ocio’ OCIO profile.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! In the meantime I’ll reinstall Maya 2024.

Wonder of wonders, reinstalling Maya 2024 seems to have fixed the issue with the

[color_manager_ocio] could not read ‘<MAYA_RESOURCES>/OCIO-configs/Maya2022-default/config.ocio’ OCIO profile.
:person_shrugging:

OK, after messing with this some more I at least found a solution for my particular case - in the Arnold/Diagnostics tab, Error Handling, I turned off Abort on Error and that stopped it from failing. I still get the …SubmitMayaToDeadline.mel line 2768: Could not find deadline_submission module error, but at least the job actually renders now.

What’s interesting (to me) is that the Deadline job parameters are different depending on whether the file was sent via the Maya Deadline submitter, which includes more Arnold parameters like Open Color IO, vs. submitting from within Deadline, which leaves off stuff like Open Color IO etc.

i get the same submission error as you, it renders,
but with no color management is used, and in images look terrible, did you get the OCIO working?
