Maya, Mash and Referencing

We’re having an issue with MASH and referencing. I’m not sure if it’s a Deadline specific issue though as it crashes in when running locally through mayabatch. Basically if we use MASH distribute (or others) in a referenced scene file it will not render through the batch command. It works fine locally but always fails on the farm.

I’ve attached the files and the error from Deadline below, it seems to be crashing after V-Ray loads but I’m not sure if that’s what’s actually causing. It’s almost impossible to prevent V-Ray from loading even though there’s not of it in the file!

Any thoughts on what might be causing the crashes? The only resolution is to load the reference into the render file and we would really like to avoid that.

I have just read the release notes for 2018.4 and it looks like a Maya bug that may already have been fixed, just downloading the update to check…

I can confirm this is a Maya issue and is resolved in 2018.4
