The min value for the GeoVolume spacing is too high. Right now (beta 3) it is .1 units. That’s just too high if I’m doing a thin shell, or a small object, or whatever. I know that there is some real danger of that being too low, if you have objects thousands of units in size, but the particle estimate should help out there (and unlike say, Meshsmooth, you won’t be immediately punished, you won’t crash until you actually render).
