Missing stuff from Royal Render

Hi guys,
I the last couple of days I’ve been testing Deadline Render Manager here at work. We are currently using Royal Render to manage softimage network render but for various reasons I started to take a look at deadline.
While I do like the software so far there are a few things that I miss from RR. Just so you know I did a google search and a documentation search before opening this topic

After a job is completed how can I check for missing frames? For example in my test scene one image had an render artifact so I deleted that image. Now I would like to make Deadline check for missing frames an re-render just the frame that is missing.

What if I deleted the job and I need to resubmit from Softimage but again, it should render only the missing frames, is there a box to check?

Does deadline have a flipbook to load the render files for a fast overview?

I know every software has it’s strengths and weaknesses and I’m certainly not looking for a RR clone but those are pretty basic stuff for network rendering and I’m sure it’s just me that doesn’t know where to look

Many thanks,
-Adrian

Hi Adrian,

You can right-click on a job and select Scan For Missing Output. This option is available for most jobs, especially if they have been submitted to Deadline from one of our integrated submission scripts (as opposed to the Monitor submission scripts). This procedure currently isn’t automated though.

I guess an automated system could be achieved through our new Event Plugin system that was introduced in version 5.0, it just hasn’t been written yet.

We leave this up to the rendering software itself. Most applications have a render option to skip existing frames, and that’s what we recommend using to get this behavior.

Not currently, mainly because we feel that there are so many standalone apps that already do this well. You can configure Deadline to open up frames in the viewer of your choice though:

I hope I’ve answered all of your questions. Please let us know if you have additional questions!

Cheers,
