Here’s some more kidneys we made for a our kidney website. Kidneys, kidneys, kidneys, none of them exploding. 
BTW, float color rendering with Krakatoa is great. Compared to our other volumetric rendering solutions, it’s so nice to have something that is compositing friendly.
I fail to see how you can’t justify exploding kidneys … That’s something I try to visualize all the time.
Really pretty images though; you are a Krakatoa master through and through. I’m still playing with bent teapots and spheres.
Thanks, the last one there is a test render using our PRT writer for Fusion. It stopped outputting the points past a certain Z distance, but did it differently for the different parts of the kidney, resulting in something that looks more like coral than kidney. Erroneous test renders are often my favorite, though, like the “Kidney Descending a Staircase, No. 2”.
