Hey Guys,
I’ve installed Deadline 8, and currently have two workstations talking to one another. One workstation is acting as the Deadline Server. Initially everything works just fine. But if the workstation/server is restarted, I get an error when the Deadline Slave is starting up that the Database cannot be connected (see attachment.)
If I completely uninstall the the Deadline Repository and reinstall, replacing the MongoDB, then everything works OK again. Until I restart the workstation.
Hmm. I’m not sure why the DB wouldn’t start up, but we can find out!
The database creates a log when it starts up. You can find it in “C:\DeadlneDatabase8\mongo\data\logs” by default. When it fails to start up again, can you send it over here and I can take a look at it? If it looks like the log isn’t being written on reboot (last modified date not changing), it could be the service is somehow not being configured properly, and that’s going to be outlined in the installer log in your temporary directory ("%temp%" is the shortcut to that), and they’re named “bitrock” with random numbers at the end.
Great! I’ve uninstalled the repository and reinstalled. So, the next time it happens, I’ll grab the log and send it.
Thanks!
It happened again.
There is no database startup log, but I’ve attached the last bitrock log.
In the meantime, I’m going to have to uninstall and reinstall…again.
bitrock_installer_6360.log (3.28 KB)
Huh. Well, nothing threw an error there. It’s also very odd that there was no log at all since it was working. Maybe there’s a conflicting MongoDB somewhere…
This is probably worth having a call this week. I’m a bit busy today (holding down the fort for Thanksgiving), but if you want to give me or the guys a call this week, just use that number in my signature between 9-5 central.
Alrighty – I think I should have some time on Thursday
Sounds good to me! Looking forward to figuring this out, it seems like a fun problem.
