I waited until the release of 6.1 before reporting as I hoped it would be fixed, and I have now tried on a new machine and the issue remains.
The issue is I setup my monitor layout as I want, I pin it, and save it in the repository options, monitor settings, but it always loads a different layout - very annoying!!
Am I saving the default layout the wrong way or is this a bug?
Hi Mark,
If you go into (superuser) > “Tools” > “Manage User Groups…”, for all the groups listed including “everyone” have you set 1 or more user groups which your user account is a member of, to have their monitor layout ‘Reset Layout On Startup’ enabled or are you applying a certain ‘layout’ for each user group? (You can select the ‘blank’ option in the drop-down list to change a particular user group if you wish).
Mike
How odd. Perhaps, you just need to press “View” > “Reset Layout”. Does that fix it? Is this issue just with your machine?
Do you use Windows ‘roaming profiles’? Are you on the v6.1 release version now?
If the above still doesn’t work, you could try blowing away your monitor settings to ensure everything is reset correctly:
Close the Monitor if it’s currently running.
In Windows Explorer, go to this path: %APPDATA%\Thinkbox
I restarted the monitor, and its layout is wrong, when I reset it fixes it. Its a new machine so clean install over the weekend. Other machines have the same issue, when I reset it returns to my setup as I have now specified that layout in the everyone tab.
In the Everyone user group settings, in the Monitor Layout section, do you have “Reset Layout On Startup” enabled? If you do, it should reset to the specified layout when the Monitor is started. This is how you enforce a particular layout, which sounds like the behavior you’re looking for.
Strange. I can’t seem to reproduce this here. Are there any error messages that show up in the Console panel on the Monitor during startup? If so, can you post them?
If there are no errors, can you save out your layout and post it here? We’ll set it up on our end and try to reproduce it. Maybe it’s something specific about the layout…
