Krakatoa and other renderers don’t give frame progress during the render, but it does seem to know which frame it is working on. Shouldn’t that figure into the task progress? If the task is frames 0-19 frames, the task progress should increment 4% for each frame finished.

I can follow up with the Krakatoa guys regarding the Krakatoa render progress. Which other renderers are you referring to?
I forget. But shouldn’t deadline, who knows about the task, be aware of frame completions and use that in the task progress? I can understand the difficulty get progress updates during a render, but this is in between renders.

We’ll test this out. I thought this was working properly, but we may be relying on the progress info from the renderer. You’re right, we should be able to just update this ourselves between frames.
Hmm, it might just be Krakatoa. Scanline, MR, and Vray all seem to report multiframe progress properly…
This will be fixed in Deadline 4.1. Even if the renderer doesn’t report progress on its own, at least Deadline will update progress for multiframe tasks properly.
