Multiple Slaves - CPU management

With having multiple slaves on one machine, if one slave is taking a lot of the cpu, could the other slaves adjust to not take on more jobs?

Hello,

We do not have the ability for a slave to detect the amount of any particular resource in use, nor the ability for the a slave to stop itself dynamically when this condition is in effect. You might be able to do something like this with external monitoring software, have it detect CPU use and stop the slave instances not using that amount, but it’s not something that we can do, nor something we support.

Hello Toke,

While this is not currently possible, I am told this is something that is on our wishlist for the future, so I will let the devs know you are interested in this feature to add to discussions about the Deadline roadmap. Thanks again for letting us know about your interest in such a feature.

Thank you Dwight:)

As a use case we are using CelAction, which doesn’t use all of the CPU which makes having multiple slaves on one machine ideal. The problem comes when adding Nuke or Arnold job to the same machine, which uses as most CPU as possible.
