As artists have had new machines, there seems to be a retention of the previous computer and slave when the new machine is used. Some artists have had more than one new machine and have 2+ slaves shown when looking in the tray menu. I thought I had read that it has something to do with the IP address, but I cannot locate the information again. Can anyone inform me as to how to remove these from the machine and Deadlines information so that the only slave available is the one that reflects the current machine. I can remove them from the monitor, but this is temporary as its log in the DNS means that it comes back.
It may be that I will need to have this done by the department responsible, I was hoping that this would not be the case though and I can resolve it myself.
In order to delete the slave completely, at least on the Deadline 7, is just to right click and choose Delete Slave. Now, if something is trying to ‘start’ the slave, and the machine is answering, that is not something we have any control over. Can you perhaps elaborate on what is happening so I can better understand what might be causing your issues? Thanks.
Hi Dwight, thank you for the reply. As mentioned, I know about removing them from the monitor, thats not the real issue. I believe that there is a retention of the machine in the DNS log. This means that the deleted slaves are coming back. This is not the responsibility of Thinkbox, at the time of writing the post, I was somewhat unaware of what may be happening externally to the Monitor, but now understand that it is down to the DNS. I have since made a request to the right people and they are resolving it.
