New database for V8.1 to V9.0 upgrade?

Hi,

As I plan on the time window to upgrade to V9.0.0.12 from V8.1.5.3, do I really need to create a new mongoDB?

The docs still say this “Do not install over an existing installation unless it’s the same major version, or there could be unexpected results” so I wanted to check if the change of version label during the beta indicates a large number of “breaking” repository changes or more of a semantic thing?

Hopefully we can just roll-out the update without a new DB - any thoughts?

Hi Rob,

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen changes in our roadmap, the DB had to be broken as explained here:

So, yes, you will need to install a fresh, new DB for 9.0. Subsequent minor version builds will of course be just fine.
