hello,
1st off, the new interface rocks! much more user friendly! The loader concept is very nice, and makes partiioning very simple
the in scene loader is also very cool(especialy the flashy logo) as well.
only crit.
it would be nice if the options in the render dialog matched up with the options in the loader
eg…
with the default set up of krakatoa,
if u disable a loader in viewport (through the render dialog)it will not only not display in the viewport, but not render it eithier. toggeling the render option does nothing either.
took me a good 20 mins to realise it was not broken, but that you have to set the in scene loader to render every nth part instead of use viewport settings(had not noticed the in scene loader at this point)
seems this could be hooked together better.
Perhaps having the render dialog over ride the loader settings, or switch the loader settings, or something.
cheers

We just finished fixing this today ;o)
Here is how the next version might work:
*Render settings are moved to top of the Loader GUI.
*Render % is set to 100%
*Render Limit is disabled.
*Render color is by default set to Use Colors From File.
*Render particles checkbox is checked of course.
*Viewport Percentage is a FRACTION of the Render Percentage, set to 1% by default. This means that you can render all particles and even animate their count over time, and the viewport will always display N % of what the renderer would display.
*Viewport Display is on by default, but unchecking the Render checkbox does not affect the viewport and vice-versa - they are completely independent now.
So you can have the particles displayed and rendering, displayed but not rendering and not displayed but rendering.
*Viewport Loading mode is set to “Load Using Render Mode”, but can be set to First N to update faster or Every Nth independently from the Render mode.
*Color mode is also using the Render settings by default, but can be once again overwritten in the viewport to show some other color source without affecting the renderer.
So in short, we reversed the dependency to make the Render settings the primary ones, unlinked several dependencies and made the viewport count a fraction of the render count instead of a separate percentage of the file particle count.
It SOUNDS much better, let’s see how well it will work when we post the next Beta.
There is more planned, but we will talk about it when it is in.
Thanks!

Another useful change - I made the file list in the Loader a multilist again (as it was in 0.9.4 in the old rollout) so you can remove multiple files with a single click.
You can still double-click one entry to Explore the path as in 0.9.6.

Thank you for the feedback - it is great to hear we are moving forward in the usability area (and the logo is really cool, too ;o)
We have a whole bunch of bugs logged regarding Loaders and hope to kill them one by one soon.
At the same time, if you feel that you have to press a button twice where it could be pressed just once, don’t hesitate to post a bug against it, as we want Krakatoa to read your mind when working on a project… :o)
For example, in the next build, if you select a history or preset file in the left Comparison list and then press Load Preset… or Load From History…, the loader dialog will position itself on that same file automatically. Things like that!
