Hey have you had any luck getting good high viscosity fluids with the grid solver?
Thanks, I actually started with grid solver particles for this test but I wasn’t that happy with it. Really hard to control the result with the grid solver, especially with high viscosity. Unless you just want to throw things and see what happens Still for smaller scale it just doesn’t behave realistic enough…
I noticed that too myself, I was wondering if anybody had better luck with it than I. That grid solver is sooo much faster for comparable particle counts, much more control over the environment, such a bummer you can’t draw the same results.
Yes indeed a shame. Since it’s voxel grid then you don’t get any of the popping exploding particles like you get in sph particles with high viscosity. So I was able to get results in 0-20 iterations which simulated in 10 mins. Just not realistic results. . I guess nextlimit really meant it when they say it’s only for large scale.

grid solver doesnt run sub frame samples btw, so it doesnt matter what setting you have u can leave it fixed at 1 ! :d
i agree its hard but i did get some pretty nice results working with grid solver, paint dripping off geometry, i got these really lONG drips with teardrop trails, that i NEVER got with sph solver, u can get high viscous with tons of simulation substeps that takes forever as soon as u increase the particle count, and when its stogether like in your test dreamie, prettty sweet btw! it works, but trying to get paint like drips i have had hard time with…
ill post some images from the girl with dragon tatoo main titles soon there was one sim that was really nice with grid solver
