So I was testing out Stoke 2.3 beta with fume 4.06 and for some reason i am geting the error that the there is no valid velocity channel when I use the fume grid as a velocity source. But if I put the prt fume which is connected to the same fume grid as a velocity its ok with it.
Kreso sent us some simulations that were reportedly not working with Stoke (not sure if you reported this to him, or someone else). We looked at the data, and the channel map was totally messed up. Then he sent us another set of files that were provided by the same customer, and these were ok and worked. In our own tests 4.06 seems to work ok with Stoke 2.3 (and 2.2).
So we are not aware of an obvious reason why 4.06 would not work with Stoke 2.3, but we have seen corrupted data coming from FumeFX 4.06 that does indeed fail to provide velocity. There might be a bug somewhere in either the FumeFX itself, or in the API DLLs we got from Kreso that causes Stoke to not see velocities under some circumstances, but we (Thinkbox and Sitni Sati) are still investigating. In general, Stoke 2.3 does not know anything about FXD files, we get a DLL from Kreso that exposes that to us.
And that’s very interesting — it sounds like this is an intermittent problem? Do you remember if you changed any settings, or did you just re-run the same simulation?
