Nuke to Deadline FLEXnet Licensing error:-5,412 on floating

Hi,

I have installed deadline on two Windows Workstations, one with a node locked and the other with a floating license.
Now when I submit a render from Nuke to Deadline the node locked workstation renders fine but the workstation with the floating license will give me this error permanently:

The problem is that Nuke is unable to find the rendering license on this machine (nuke_r). Is the floating license you set up a rendering license or an interactive license?

Hi rrussel,

thanks for your quick reply! The floating license is an interactive one.

kind regards
Marcin

Thanks for confirming it’s an interactive license, as that should explain the problem. What you need to do is configure your Nuke plugin in Deadline so that your workstation with a floating license uses an interactive one instead of a rendering one. In the Monitor, enter Super User mode from the Tools menu, then select Tools -> Configure Plugins. Select Nuke from the list on the left, and then find the Slaves To Use Interactive License setting. Press the […] button and place your workstation in the “Selected” list. Now the next time it goes to render a Nuke job, it should try to pull an interactive license.

Cheers,

Hi Ryan,

this worked like a charm! Thanks for your help.

Is it possible to tell Deadline not to use a render slave when an artist is using it for comp work?

kind regards
Marcin

There isn’t an automated way of doing this, but the artist can just shutdown the slave, and then restart it when they’re done.

You could also set up a scheduled task on Windows to start the slave when the workstation has sat idle for a little while in case the artist forgets to start up the slave again.
