Hi guys,
The new beta rocks! I like all the improvements!
Want to note a couple of thins, though (that’s what beta testers are for ):
-When Pcache or Lcache is on, user changes to render range, they remain on. I rendered an animation with only a static frame
-It would be nice if the loader could have a ‘use global’ setting in the shading combo box, so particles can be shaded with the setings in the main controls rollout
Will post more when I find something else! Thanks and keep the great stuff comin’
Hi guys,

the improvements!
Thanks dude!
-When Pcache or Lcache is on,

they remain on. I rendered an
animation with only a static
frame
We realized it was a bad design decision to disable the cache when rendering ranges, but there is no way to get a notification when you change the animation.
BUT having a static cache during an animation IS AS DESIGNED - it allows you to test your lighting and shading and render turntables of your particles straight from memory without any reloading. Remember, the cache is manual and STUPID (as opposed to Intelligent), so it is up to you to decide when to enable or disable it.
It might be interesting for you to know that the PCache and LCache were implemented in the afternoon of the day we posted the build, so the feature was “fresh out of the oven”. Once we started using it, we realized there should be no disabling when rendering ranges.
We have a plan for intelligent caching in the future where a PRT loader would cache its particles if set to load the same frame over time (next build will feature a Playback Graph mode like the point cache 2 in Max).
-It would be nice if the
loader could have a ‘use
global’ setting in the shading
combo box, so particles can be
shaded with the setings in the
main controls rollout
I see what you mean, it probably makes sense. We will have to make a decision what color to use if the list is set to Scripted Vector Channel.
Will post more when I find
something else! Thanks and
keep the great stuff comin’
Don’t worry, more cool stuff is coming next week!
