Options to hide more info from users

Hi guys. I would love to have more control with who gets to see what information regarding our slaves. I’ve had many people complain to the bosses that they see so many idle slaves and their jobs aren’t getting anything, so it must be that the render guys are slacking off. Of course, they are clueless to the fact that some of our slaves do not qualify to run their jobs. I would love to be able to hide many of the fields under the slaves panel, as well as the readout at the top of the slaves panel that shows the total slaves and idle slaves, etc. I am religious about leaving comments on the slaves for our IT guys to look at, but this information should not be shown to everybody because it creates a sense of panic everywhere when people see 50 disabled slaves that have a strange comment on them.

Generally speaking, most of our users need to know very basic info. Is their job rendering, how many machines does it have, how long until it’s finished? The rest is unnecessary and gives people too much info so that they start asking questions and doing calculations and wasting my time because they think they know what’s happening on the farm. What do you think? Can we add more options to hide more info like this from specific user groups?

i accomplished this by creating a layout and forcing it on certain user groups every time they open the monitor.
You could close the slave pane all together and leave open the jobs and tasks panes. This would prevent users from seeing any slave status which may be good if they cannot do anything about the slaves.

not sure if this solves your issue but it helped me out.

You can also disable which panels that user groups can see (under the UI Features tab):
thinkboxsoftware.com/deadlin … ure_Access

So in your case, you can just hide the slave panel.

Okay, I will consider removing the slaves panel. I should have done this from the beginning so that people don’t notice something is missing. Thanks for the feedback guys. I was hoping to leave the slaves panel as an option, since there is a lot of good information under it for people to use.

Column and row filters for usergroups would be the best. That way we could set up custom filters for which slaves should show up for which users, and also which columns. They need the slave list sometimes to troubleshoot their jobs.

We can add that to the wishlist.

Cheers,
Ryan
