OS X Repository Configurator!

A’hoy ladies and gents! I’ve built a quick script to set up the repository share using SMB on Mac OS X based file servers. Since I’m not a regular Mac user, I was wondering if some admins could take a look and see if there are any glaring problems or oversights before I start recommending people start using it.

Also, there’s no roll back plan for this yet. I guess deleting the group, user, and repo line in smb.conf is how you revert. Highly suggest reading instead of running this, in case it explodes everything.

This script is for users in a mixed (OSX + PC) farm environment who know virtually nothing about file server administration. AFS+SMB leads to bad karma, and that’s typically what they end up configuring without proper permissions, accounts, etc.

I’ve also moved this to a better home over on GitHub.

vi and GitHub have very different opinions on how long a tab stop should be by default.
