Internally at my company we’re beginning to replace certain terminology to ultimately be more descriptive and well-intentioned. Does the Deadline team have any plans to replace terminology? Internally we’re going with:
Blacklist -> Denylist
Whitelist -> Allowlist
Master -> Parent
Slave -> Helper

Hey Thomas! While I can’t speak to future plans but we’ve been working improving on our terminology. The start was renaming our control app from “Slave” to “Worker”, and that’s not the last change we’ll be making.
Also, note that the machine which renders work should be referred to as a “render node”.
We’ve never had a “Master”. The Workers themselves look to the server to see what tasks they should dequeue in a distributed co-operative way.
+1 on this request it is an unfortunate naming.
