plugin.ini issues

Hello,

I have a custom plugin.ini being used for renders. On some machines, it appears that they are still loading the local plugin ini as they are throwing errors.

I thought that if a custom plugin ini is being specified through Deadline that the local plugin ini on the machine is ignored. Instead I am getting errors on the machine that report that it can’t be loaded twice because one of them is already in use.

It would appear that this is only happening on a few machines while the rest of the farm seems to work with this custom plugin.ini.

Do I not understand how this works? or is there something legitimately wrong here?

I have attached a log from one of the machines, I hope it helps. Thanks!

Cheers!

Thanks for the log! Always helpful.

I’ll start here by saying I have no idea how this works, and that Bobo is spending his days this week showing people amazing things at SIGGRAPH.

What I do know about the plugin.ini is that we do normally chainload plugin.ini through our own dl.ini so you don’t need to know or even care about our Lightening plugin that makes all of our neat Max integration work.

Reading the log you sent, I saw this:
“0: INFO: Not including user profile plugin.ini because a custom plugin.ini is being used”

This leads me to believe that what we’re loading is augmenting what’s in the application root’s plugin.ini file, so defining it in both places shouldn’t be needed.

Edwin,

Thanks for your reply and I appreciate you taking a look at this. In all honesty, I did not totally understand what you meant in your last post; I myself am not that familair with the inner workings of deadline and your reply went a little over my head.

However, I will try to clarify one thing and hopefully this can help us both out and you may have noticed this from the log file.

The custom ini is refererencing a network share and the local plugin ini is referenceing plugins on the local drive, yet they are both loading when I send the job with it set to use the custom ini. This is the behavior that I don’t understand. I have had this setup since before Deadline 6 and this was never a problem before and now it is.

If you already answered this in your last post then maybe you just have to explain it to me in simpler terms so I understand.

Thanks again!

You know, I don’t think I did. Let’s wait for Bobo so he can teach both of us how this mechanism works.

ok, sounds good. Will I need to post a reminder in a week or will this thread get to him when he gets back?

Thanks.

Cheers,

Christian

Hello,

I was hoping Bobo would be back now and if you could give this thread a look. Thanks!
