possible to get a simple colour correction control in there?

Heya Folks!

I’m having a tonne of fun with a new vendor at the minute trying to match a submission quicktime look. They’ve supplied a lut to go on top of DPX files from an arri alexa but the output from draft of applying an alexa lut and then their own lut doesn’t match the output they want from an Avid. It’s likely down to every application writing quicktimes a little differently and it not being a good format in the first place but we aren’t matching what they want. Sometimes it’s a tiny bit off so we just need a bit of contrast or gamma, or to add a little more red or green for example. Would it be possible to get some kind of gamma / gain / lift / saturation type of operations into draft for simple overall changes? At the minute I’m trying to use colour corrections exported as luts from nuke but it’s quite hit and miss, and it’d be quicker to have as part of a draft ui for the sake of speed and tweakability.

Is there anything in the library for this type of functionality?

Cheers!

John

There’s “CreateGamma”: http://docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/products/draft/1.2/Documentation/LUT.html

This is a good post on Quicktime gammas, etc: https://vitrolite.wordpress.com/2010/12/31/quicktime_gamma_bug/

Thank you for your suggestion! I will add this to our wish list.

For gain and lift, you could use the slope and offset parameters of Draft.LUT.CreateASCCDL. It also has a saturation parameter. For default values (i.e, for no effect), set slope=[1, 1, 1], offset=[0, 0, 0], power=[1, 1, 1], and saturation=1.

Paul, the draft asccdl was exactly what I was looking for! Currently I’ve been writing cc files by hand which is a bit clunky - this’ll fit nicely into our submitter.

Three steps ahead of me as usual
