Power Management > important process > destroys proc. names

Deadline Version: 6.1.0.54178 R - windows 7 Pro 64

I’ve noticed that opening the Power Management window ( PMw ) will disable a part of it’s own functionality when there are more then 1 important processes assigned to prevent the idle-shutdown routine.
Every time the “ok” button is pushed all but the first process will get an additional, empty space in front of them.
And this causes that process to no longer be recognized and results in a machine shutdown.

to reproduce the problem:

  1. open PMw and press ‘set’ to add more then 1 process in the important process window on each line.
  2. press ok
  3. all but the first process will have an empty space added in front of their name.
  4. do this 4 times and you’ll have the result as in the attached image.

to prevent the problem:

  1. open PMw and press ‘set’ to add more then 1 proces in the important process window on 1 line & separated with a comma.
  2. press ok
  3. close the PMw

to break it again:

  1. open PWw
  2. press ok to close the window

to keep it functional:

  1. open PMw
  2. press cancel to close the window

I use this to prevent my workstation from being shutdown by deadline.
It was kinda shocking the first time to get kicked out of my own system
hope this helps.

Thanks for reporting this, and the detailed steps to reproduce! We were able to reproduce here, and it will be fixed in the next beta.

Cheers,
Ryan

Another bug ( i think ) for the power management windows:

When disabling the “idle shutdown” function the group overview will show the “mode” field still as “Enabled” after closing the window.
I thought first it was because the “machine startup” was still active, but also when I disable that one and press “Ok” and re-open the window it will show “Enabled” by the group mode section.

Is this a bug, or is the “enabled” just there to show you a group has been filled with a machine item?

This is by design. You have the ability to disable an entire group so that you don’t have to disable all PM features in a group manually. Yes, this means it’s possible to have an enabled group with no enabled features, but the PM log in Pulse will show this.

Cheers,
Ryan
