We finished the setup of the power management with temperature sensors recently. Yesterday some work was required on the AC unit so we decided to test the power management and let him shutdown the machines… so we closed the AC unit and watch Deadline.
It was perfect! You guys did a great job with this feature! Now that we have seen it in action, we can sleep better, we know we will not burn our renderfarm if the AC unit fails, and this is wonderfull.
There is only one minor point I would like to raise: I would like to have a fail safe on the power management software.currently only one machine is running the power management software, if this machine fails then the power management software is not running, if then something appends that would require the power management to shutdown machines it will not append and I am at risk.
True this is an unlikely senario, but better safe then sorry.
So maybe a way to have multiple instance of the Power management software runing or if the slaves could watch if the software is running might be good features to add.

Thanks for the feedback! That’s great to hear that Power Management is working well for you. For the next release, we’ve built temperature checking redundancy into the slaves. So if the slaves cannot connect to Pulse (which will control the PM functionallity in the next release), they will check the temperature sensors themselves and act accordingly.
