Promoite TaskID

I don’t know if this is currently possible or a known workflow exists, please enlighten me–

I submit a job containing about 2000 frames. There are key points in this sequence that I want to show the client or check to make sure the render’s integrity holds up throught he sequence, so I’d like to ‘promote’ certain frames in the task list to render first. So I’d like to select a handful of frames and render them first.

the simple solution would be to duplicate the job and cfhange the output frame range, but I can only copy a job and can’t seem to paste or duplicate it.

if this is a workflow that other people would want, I can see to options:

  1. select tasks that need to render first and give them the lowest availabel taskID or right-click and submit to new job which is a copy of the current job that only contains the frame # that are selected.

You can change the order that frames are rendered by right-clicking on a job and selecting Modify Frame Range. Let’s say the job was originally frames 1-100. If you want to render the middle 20 frames first, you can do this:

41-60,1-100

Deadline won’t duplicate frames, so you don’t have to worry about those middle frames being rendered twice. There are many options for more advanced frame ranges you can check out:

You can also right-click on tasks for a job and select Resubmit Tasks. That will submit a new job that consists of those frames only.
