it would be convenient for higher count particle partitions, to have the option of saving every nth particle with a limited particle count in an extra folder parallel to the highres partition
would make workflow easier when its necessary to see every nth particle, or to shade, etc.
then it would be nice addition for the prt loader to load render and proxy sequences as well (similar to xmesh)
Krakatoa MX 2 has a new MAXScript interface which lets you save a PRT sequence from any existing particle source (similar to the way Krakatoa saves particles to disk, but without calling the renderer). My first prototype tool written with it was a proxy generator - you pick a PRT Loader that has one or more sequences loaded into it and it saves a reduced count version of these particles to a Proxy sub-folder. Then it adds the proxy sequence in Viewport only mode and sets all other partitions to Render only mode.
I will try to finish this tool and integrate it into KMX 2 before release.
More tools related to re-saving of particles could be developed by us or 3rd parties using this new technique, for example a tool that saves each event of a PFlow to a separate stream. It is also used for baking particle sources to PRT sequences for Krakatoa SR export.
