PRT File Birth

Is this getting any more love before 1.0?

I just noticed it doesn’t seem to bring in data channels like color, density, etc. We have a Fusion plugin that saves PRT’s but we can’t bring our data into Pflow, just the PRT Loader.

Also, it would be nice if we could load in multiple PRT’s the way the Loader does.

No love, we gave it hate.

We decided to call it a BONUS tool for now and we removed any licensing checks from it, so anyone can use it, but it is not very usable - it just loads one frame from a prt, not a sequence.

Same for the krakatoa position which loads velocities and positions, but nothing else.

We will probably give them more love next time around, they were actually hacks to do some production tricks on Superman and never really evolved much…

Do bonus tools have source code? We might be interested in working on this if you choose not to, and it would give us a head start.

Alas, the particle flow operators are using a large portion of code from the central Frantic library, which means it isn’t feasible for us to release. I am considering giving them an injection of “love” but it may have to wait until after SIGGRAPH.

We probably won’t attempt our own until after SIGGraph either, so we’ll evaluate it again at that time.

We did manage to get our PRT saver for Fusion to work with color and density. We were just looking for a way to get that back to max as particles, not as geometry.
