PRT Loaders as particles?

I would like it if the PRT loaders would consider themselves particles under the display filters. So the Hide By Catagory would turn off the PRT loaders when Particle Systems was checked.

We will have to figure out how the display filter is checking whether an object is a particle system or not. If it is not overly esoteric, we will probably do that.

yeah, it’s a bit odd as the superclass is geometry, and if you hide geometry, particles go too, so it is a bit strange.



I have proxy meshes that represent where my particles are, and I can quickly try out lighting and cameras with the proxies, but I need to be able to hide and unhide all the PRT’s easily. I’m doing selection sets now, but I just thought the particle filter would be helpful.

In the mean time, you can register your custom filter in the Hide By Category to hide just PRT Loaders.



*Go to Display tab.

*In the area below the checkboxes, hit the Add button.

*Scroll the list and find “PRT Loader” class.

*Hit OK

*Now if you select PRT Loader in the list, all PRT Loaders will be hidden.

*To unhide, press the None button.

(There is a good reason PRT Loader is Geometry class, but it might become obvious post release 1.0)
