is there anyway to get a prt to load into nuke, hopefully with colour channel.
also would there be anyway for krakatoa to read particles from a position pass, where each pixel in the render represents xyz world coordinates?
cheers

it’s possible to do that ,but i guess u will not get the some result in term of render if u are trying to extract exact info that match ur render ,
other then that nuke viewport isn’t able to draw million of particle easly in the viewport and that may be the limitation .
by ceriosity, can u just tell me the use of that plz
Ok watch this episode 71. Really cool. Just thought you could do similar things with a prt, not as cool as what they do but Without coding a nuke plugin to generate th points from pos pass, a prt would work.
So how do I load the prt into nuke, it wouldn’t be millions if points.
Thanks
Use Fusion instead?
hey chad,
yes well we do currently have fusion but are moving over to nuke. The fusion situation is dire in the uk, everyones gone over to nuke so getting hold of fusion artists is tough. Also it didnt help that their uk reseller went down taking everyones money with them. We were only ever issued temp lics even though he had been paid, luckily eyeon decided to honour our custom and give us the perm lics even though they didn’t get the money from the reseller, but still its a precarious situation.
so if anyone has any ideas on getting a prt into nuke please do lend a hand?
once they implement Katana then i guess it won’t matter so much as all of the 3d data will be directly available in nuke, provided they fully incorporate the tech.
thanks
paul
That’s unfortunate to hear…
At SIGGraph this year we did a demo similar to what’s in that fxguide video, but it was a bit more advanced (since it relied on unstructured data, not, for all intents and purposes, meshes). We’ve released some Fusion plugins and example comps on our blog to explain how it to exploit this technique…
What’s the Nuke plugin community like anyway? All I’ve seen is OFX crap.
