Hello !

My network administrator is proposing me to convert our single pulse on windows server into 3 or 4 linux pulse.

2 questions about pulses :

  • Does Pulse require a Deadline Pulse licence ?
  • Is there a real interest having more than 1 pulse ? our farm is about 160nodes.

Pulse is optional, and while it performs maintenance operations on the farm, and manages more advanced features like Auto Configuration, Power Management, Slave Throttling, Statistics Gathering, and the Web Service, it is not required, nor does it use a license, only the slave does. As for needing it, if you feel that your farm is running slowly, or not performing to your standards, you can definitely give it a try.

I would say, at least in our case, pulse is necessary, with auto config, throttling & statistics on.
All job distribution is so slowly when my pulse crash.
