Pulse

Hi Ryan

I have some doubts regarding Pulse

I saw on the help…

“If Pulse is running on the same machine that the repository is installed on, you can configure it to use the local repository path
instead of the UNC one (right-click on the Deadline Launcher and select Change Repository). This greatly improves job search
performance, and greatly reduces the load on your network.”

We have pulse runing on the same machine that we have the repository. If this machine do not render do we have to install the client in order to run pulse?
To have the deadline launcher, as sad in your help, you need to have the client installed?

How do I know that the Pulse is really working?

Thanks,
Mário

Yes, in order to run Pulse you need to have the client software installed on the repository machine.

Depending on how many slaves you have, you should see some relative refresh performance in the Monitor due to the reduced network load. You’ll also notice that dependent jobs will likely start quicker then if Pulse wasn’t running. Pulse performs repository checks every 30 seconds or so, while if it wasn’t running, the slaves themselves would perform these checks at random intervals.

Cheers,
