Question about V-Ray licensing

We’re looking to get more V-Ray for 3ds Max licenses, and I’m a bit unclear on how the V-Ray licensing works with Deadline. When rendering a 3ds Max job with V-Ray, does this require a V-Ray render license, a network license, or a DR license? And is the licensing different when rendering through the standalone V-Ray application? I know a V-Ray license allows unlimited network rendering, but I believe that’s only through Backburner, not Deadline.

If someone could clear this up, I’d appreciate it.

Cheers,

Eric

Vray network rendering through Deadline doesn’t use up a vray license, although the render nodes still need to access the license server to check if a valid license is available (even though it’s not used).

Great. Thanks for clearing that up, Ryan.

Hi Ryan,
Is your statement correct till now?
Or now we need a seperate VRay render node license for each node to render 3ds Max job?

(sorry for digging up old post but it comes up really high on Google Search)
