I´ve attached an image of the error message. This happens with Max9x64 and 2k8x64 (german versions)
It runs on Max 9 64 bit here, but not on 2008 (same error 126). Obviously something is missing.
We are investigating what the cause could be…
At this point it appears to be a dependency on ThinkingParticles.DLO. No TP installed, no Krakatoa :o(
We are working on a fix - looks like some of the new functionality we added to access Group data in TP has added new dependencies.
Sorry, I should have tested on 2008 without TP this morning before posting the build.
Expect a new build tomorrow…
A new build 1.1.0.31288 RC3 has been posted.
It should fix the issue on machines without TP 3.0 installation.
We still need confirmation that Max 8 with TP 2.5 works as expected. If you still have Max 8 and TP 2.5 around, please test - the new TP-related features should work the same in 2.5 and 3.0…

This is As Designed now :o)
We removed support for the mental ray DOF effect because
- It was a hack from days before we had the modifier
- its f-stop has a limited range
So from 1.1 on, to get DOF, you have to either use the Standard Camera with Krakatoa Camera modifier, or a Brazil or VRay camera.
I will update the documentation as soon as I can.
