Realflow meshloader as matte object

Hey guys,

I’m new in this forum, nice to meet you all

I have problem trying to use Realflow meshloader as matte object in Krakatoa, it seems Krakatoa doesn’t capture the whole sequence but only a frame when I activated the “Enable Matte Objects”. Do you guys know any solution to this issue?

My build is 1.1.1.32060.

Cheers,
Jo

I have not heard of this issue before, but I haven’t used Realflow meshes as matte objects, so no wonder.
One thing to try would be to create a Mesher Compound object, pick the Realflow Mesher and add the Mesher Compound to the Matte Named Selection Set.
If this does not change anything, we will have to take a closer look. Keep in mind that 1.1.1 is quite old and we might have fixed the problem in our current version.
I will try to reproduce this tomorrow using 1.1.1

Thanks Bobo, I gave it a shot and sent it to render tonight, we’ll see tomorrow

Mesher doesn’t work, can you help me try it on the latest build? Thanks

Do you have a valid support contact? If yes, you could send us details on your license (purchaser name, purchase date, etc.) to the email “krakatoa-support AT franticfilms DOT com” and we could give you access to the latest Beta. Alternatively, you could send us a couple of your RealFlow mesh files and we could try to load them here and see what is going on (we don’t use RealFlow much since we have our own simulation pipeline, so my experience in creating those is limited).

Yes we do, we have a few licenses here, I will forward your request to the person in charge.

Thanks,
Jo

hi bobo,
i have the same problem aswell (can´t use realflow mesh as matte) - want to render the water spray with krakatoa  will it be fixed in the next release?

ps: ver 1.6.0.43178

I am quite sure the RealFlow Mesher issues are NextLimit/RealFlow related. Not sure if there is anything we can do differently if their object misbehaves to start with.
Have you talked to NextLimit about it?
Also, you can find the latest build of Krakatoa here:
thinkboxsoftware.com/krakato … ta-builds/
but it probably won’t improve the RealFlow mesh loading…

i think the problem could be easily solved be updating the matte object in every rendered frame.

I’m not sure I completely follow what the problem is exactly.

Would you be able to show some images, or a quicktime ?

In short, the RealFlow Mesh Loader sometimes refuses to update its animation at render time and shows the first frame only.
I have seen it doing this outside of the context of Krakatoa, so I am quite sure it is a NextLimit problem.
I don’t think we can do anything special to force it to update since it is supposed to know what to do when a renderer is asking for its render mesh…

hi darci,
i made a little screen capture for better understanding what happens.

i guess that krakatoa only uses the state of mesh in frame 0. if krakatoa would update the matte object on render it should be possible to fix.

i never had any problems whith the realflow mesher before. in my video you can see that the mesh only jumps back to frame 0 after rendering when i enabled matte object.
