Realflow?

Standard particles, like PCloud render just fine, but the NLParticles from .bin’s don’t. Are they supposed to?

Krakatoa uses the standard 3ds Max particle interface, which was introduced at the same time as Particle Flow. Not all particle systems support that interface.

I seem to recall that realflow’s .bin particle format was pretty straightforward. I think we could add the ability to load those files directly quite easily.

I found some old code for a renderman procedural we used to convert from realflow .bin files to blobby .rib for Entropy rendering. This was for RealFlow 2, and the .bin particle file format has probably changed. Do you have some sample .bin files you could send us?

I only have realflow 3 currently, so you’d only be updating from one old format to another old format.

Truth be told, might be more useful to have a .bin loader for Pflow, at least then we could assign additional properties to it.

A pflow operator for the .bin files would be cool. It might end up in Krakatoa if we generalize our particle file loading, then make a pflow operator that works on all the particle file formats Krakatoa supports.
