I am unclear as to whether this setting is only used in reporting, or is respected when deciding whether a task should time out or not.
Say we have a machine that takes 2x as long to render, if we set the timeout multiplier to 2, it should double the task timeout when figuring out whether to fail / requeue the task, is that correct?
In the Slave Properties in the Monitor, you can set the normalized values for the render times (used for reporting only) and for the task timeouts.

Yes thats the settings im asking about, is the “the task timeouts” multiplier used in the task timeout calculation process?
So if the job has a 10 minutes task timeout set, if it renders on a machine with the ‘normalized task timeout multiplier’ set to 2, will it essentially have a 20 minute task timeout?
Yes, that’s exactly how it works.
