REDLine -> Quicktime transcode stops

Hi
I’m trying to transcode a pile of R3D files with the REDLine submitter. It works fine for exporting file sequences but doesn’t work when selecting QT transcode. The job starts with no errors but never completes.

That log actually looks like the job is running fine, and doesn’t show any errors. Is this something that is reliably and reproducably happening on your farm? If so, I would like to have you run the following command from the command line on the machine that produced that log you included.

I want to figure out if the same thing happens without Deadline in the mix. You may need to change the paths on stuff to make sure they work right.

As for the batch submit, you can definitely write a script to do a batch sumission using the job and plugin info files. You can find more info on that at docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/produc … ssion.html and I am including a zip file with sample files from my own computer. I hope this helps.

I’m getting the same behaviour running this on the command line so i’m not sure whats happening. It produces this output and hangs just like on the farm.
At least it doesn’t have anything to do with Deadline.

Yeah, I am thinking that the folks are RED(red.com/) could probably help out here in figuring out why it’s failing.

Updated to version 32 and now i get to frame 25 before it hangs :slight_smile:
Haven’t heard back from RED support yet. So i’ll do this in AE this time around.

That seems really, really odd. I am hopeful RED can help on this to figure out the cause of it dying. If it’s something in how we are sending the job, we’d love to know so we can try to fix it.

We figured this while waiting for Red support to get back to us :slight_smile:
It turns out that qt export from REDLine (CL) stops when it can’t find the “(User folder)/Library/Application Support/Red/Redline/Logs” directory. We made this directory manually and now it seems to work just fine.

Thanks for the info Bonsak. We will see about adding a check to ensure this directory exists to stop it crashing in the future to the REDLine plugin.
