Regular System crashes when using Kraktoa

After playing around with Krakatoa for a bit I almost regularly experience severe system crashes. So far that Cinema freezes and I can’t even shut down the process anymore, resulting in the need to restart the system.

It usually didn’t happen at a specific point, so it’s difficult for me to report a concrete bug, but I was wondering if anybody else has been running in such whole-system-crashes? I will keep on working with it in the next days and see if I can figure out what could be the trigger for it. (I’m having the suspicion that it might be connected with the fact that I’m working on a very much customized non-standard MAC system at the moment…)

Hi Matthias,
most Crashes I get are just like the ones you describe.
I’m still trying to figure out a pattern, but seem to related to the initial particle generation process.
Are you using X Particles?

Also, I get crashes sometimes when I interrupt a Krakatoa render. Again in the generation process (or should I say the memory allocation process)…
I think we need to test specific setups to come to a conclusion.

Cheers
T

I would suggest that everyone testing Krakatoa C4D follows noseman’s example and enters the system configureation in the profile’s signature area so we don’t have to ask.

I am getting no crashes on Windows, but more than 50% of our Beta sites are on OSX. So knowing the OS, version etc. and the other plugins you are using would be very helpful. Also, I don’t have X-Particles yet, so I cannot exclude the possibility the crash is related to it…

Still just playing around with Thinking Particles, so the crashes most likely are not having anything to do with the input system involved.

I would really like to track these crashes down if I can.

Is there any specific set of operations that causes the crashes? Something I could do here that always crashes C4D?

I’m not able to reproduce the crash on my development machine at the moment.

Conrad, I assume most crashes (if not all of these randomly triggered ones) are happening on OSX, so I think you should try on OSX as well?
