Renderelements Bug and a whish

Hey there,

first of all a bug regarding renderelements. I havent tested this for other renderers, but if vray is set in a scene with renderelements added
and the renderer is switched to krakatoa one looses the renderelements tab, but they are still created on disc during rendertime (beeing all black).
Created some very messy folders recently as they are split instead of inside a single EXRs like vray would save them.

In addition basic renderelement support (with a bunch of channels like velocity etc) would be nice. Even nicer would be a generic renderelement
that can be added multiple times and allows to set any of the kraktoa channels to be output to a renderelement.

And even better then that would be a custom save option like the VRay VFB that would stuff all the available channels in a single EXR

  1. Yep, that is a “bug” in the Deadline submission in general. The SMTD code should check whether the renderer is Krakatoa and if it is, it should disable any render element handling.

  2. Basic render elements support is on our To Do list, but it is not as easy as it sounds because the data that goes out to Render Elements from other renderers is usually part of the rendering process, but in the case of Krakatoa, all we have is RGB and Alpha. Anything else would have to be specifically generated for the purpose. We have some ideas how this could be done, but it is probably v2.0 material.

  3. If we had 2. in place, doing 3. would be trivial.

Thank you for the feedback!

Great to hear there’s more to come

Keep it up guys!!
