…as you can see I have lost the baked texture, I have checked color and ID channels, I have tried creating a new PRT loader, tried saving a new set of PRT’s and many other tweeks, combinations and retry’s. I have tried with different scenes multiple times but I keep loosing the texture at this stage. Im not sure if it is the renderer, the software, the hardware or me doing something wrong or missing something altogether
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Try adding the PRT Update right after the PRT Birth and, if necessary, instance it in the other events.
There is a chance that it is getting confused when used in a global event.
If that solves the problem, I will log it as a bug.
If it does not solve the problem, please let us know and I will try to reproduce it.
I would personally add a mapping object operator to that flow.
The 3d procedural maps seem to do just fine without it, it is when I use any of the 2d maps I run into issues.
I don’t know if it is a bug or not but that is the only way I can bake colors generated by 2d maps to particles.
BTW I haven’t had any issues using the Krakatoa update in the global, although it seems odd to me to put it there, especially if you were grabbing position data when trying to add any other influence, i guess there could be other reasons though.
Ive been playing around with this scene again today. I tried your solution Bobo by adding an updater to to each event and it worked, however Im not sure if this was the problem to begin with. I think the problem may of been in that I had not closed the GUI since saving the particle sequence, and I was also rendering from the render window. When I closed and restarted the GUI and clicked render from within the GUI itself, no problems I tried this theory with a new scene using less particles with no problems.
Here is a picture of the new result a few frames along the timeline, its only 100,000 particles but on first impressions seems to be working okay.
Im not sure if I follow you, im new to particles! At what stage do you recommend the mapping object, I have only used them outside of krakatoa?
First of all, I am quite happy it is working now, whatever the cause
I don’t think the GUI has anything to do with it, but I am not sure what was going on anyway, so I could be wrong.
If you ever find a set of steps to reproduce the problem, please let us know!
