Hi,
I have installed 3ds max 9 64 bit version on 64bit computer, and 3ds max 9 32 bit version on 32 bit computer. Also, I installed Deadline Repository on the 64bit computer. when I send a job from 64 bit computer to both 64 bit computer and 32 bit computer, the rendering happened only on the 64bit computer and 32 bit computer is "idle".
I checked the 32 bit computer and there's error message like:
Error initializing 3ds max plugin: No 64 bit file found in the semicolon separated list "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 9\3dsmax.exe;C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\3ds Max 9\3dsmax.exe" (RenderExecutable)
Do I need to install 64bit version 3ds max on the 32 bit computer? Any help will be appreciated..
Justin.
Hi Justin,
When you submit the job, there is an option to force a particular build
of 3dsmax - the options are 32bit, 64bit, or None. It’s probably set to
64bit in your case, which of course can’t be found on a 32 bit machine.
If you set this to None, Deadline will use whichever executable it finds
first, regardless of the bitness. Try this and let us know if you have
any luck.
Cheers,
Thank you Ryan for your quick response.
I changed the setting to 64 bit to None, and the 32 bit slave computer didn't produce any error message. However, the 32 bit computer didn't take part in the rendering. Only 64 bit computer was involved in the rendering and the 32 bit computer's status was still "idle". Do you have any idea in this case? Thank you again.
Justin.
Did you submit a new job with the setting set to None, or did you change
the setting of the original job in the job’s properties dialog? The
reason I ask is that if a slave consistently fails on a job, it will
mark that job as bad, so if you just tweaked the original job setting,
then the slave will still think the job is “bad” and not pick it up
unless you choose to ignore bad job detection (which can be done under
the Advanced tab of the job properties dialog), or if you restart that
slave.
If you submitted a new job without changing any settings other than the
build, it should be picked up by all of your slaves.
Cheers,
