I would like to request that an email address not be automatically generated for new users when an SMTP server is set up in the repository settings.
Shouldn’t be hard to add a toggle for this. I’ll add it in the to-do pile.

Is it that the auto generated email address was in the incorrect syntax format for your pipeline (ie: a template system would make this work) or just you don’t want it to be generated?
The auto-generated email addresses are not correct. The SMTP server that faces internal machines is not the email address domain. Deadline may properly resolve a CNAME for the SMTP server; I don’t know, but I would rather it just avoided making assumptions about user settings.
This is actually a big time saver for many studios, so we would prefer to add an option to disable it, and/or add an option to override what the default postfix of the email address is (if it happens to be different than your server name). We’ll put both on the todo list.

Yeah, being able to specify a default postfix separately from an SMTP server seems to make the most sense.
