I have a slave.
It’s in pools: gavin, Local, NukeI
It’s in groups: local, global, i7_v02
I have a job:
Pool: global
pool (sec): gavin
Group: i7_v02
But it won’t pick up the job. I can’t figure out why. It’s got a pool (secondary: gavin). It’s got a group (global). I’m a member of the nuke_i limit group which isn’t in use. And there is no concurrent slave limit.
So it would be great if cliking on a slave and a job at the same time would tell you why it’s not rendering. Something like “No Matching Pools”. Or “Not member of job’s limit groups.” etc.
Is the slave idle, or is it rendering other jobs? Since the slave doesn’t belong to the job’s primary pool (global), it will only pick up the job if it can’t find other jobs during it’s primary pool scan.
Cheers,
Ryan
Well, in this instance it turned out being a whitelist (instead of a blacklist) on the job. So it was a misconfiguration. But it took a lot of trial and error on my part. It would be nice in Deadline 7 to have a tool which gives you a report:
Pool: True
Group: True
White/Blacklist: False
Limit Group: True
Limit Group Count: False
etc…
Or even more fun, you could group slaves by their reason.
Can Render:
Render-i7-35
Cannot Render (Limit Groups):
Render-i7-32
Cannot Render (Pool):
Render-18
Render-05
Render-01
etc.
