Slave - connection refused/timed out

Hi there,
I got some problems connecting to Windows slaves (Deadline 7.3, Windows 10 1607). This is from Windows as well as from Linux nodes.
First thing i checked were firewall settings - those seem to be correct and I guess that’s managed by the installer? The only thing I am not completely sure about is windows categorizing into private/public networks.

Any Ideas?

Offhand, not really. Would you be able to send along a Slave log?

Ok, I send you the slave and launcher log via pm - cannot post it to public.

In general, it’s better to send private information into the support system by e-mailing support@thinkboxsoftware.com. I’m pretty bad about checking my private messages.

From the logs, it looked like the Slaves were being shut down fairly regularly. If they’re not running, they definitely won’t be able to stream their logs. They should be marking themselves as ‘offline’ though if shutting themselves off.

No, sorry. Pulse Power Management is only running in debug mode currently because I tried to use it but ran into other problems. The connection problems are definitely while the according slaves are up and running and rendering - the main purpose is “connect to slave log” to check the lock of the running task.

Hello Felix,

Edwin mentioned that it looked like the slaves were shutting down fairly often, but based on your reply I assume that these slaves are actually online at the time you are trying to connect. What I would like to have you do is actually record a time when this happens when connecting to a slave, and then send over the launcher and slave logs for the whole day from the machine you were trying to connect to at the time. This will allow us to look up the time and date that it happened, and see if there is any indication in the logs of what happened. Can you email those logs when this happens to our support email address, support@thinkboxsoftware.com, so that we can get a broader look at them? Thanks.
