Slaves not picking up a license

Hello guys,

We have a slave that’s not picking up a license (enough are free, it’s pointed to the server). The log says:

Any ideas?

Hi Hristo,
Looks like your license file has expired?

Contact sales[@]thinkboxsoftware.com for an updated license.

I’m quite sure it’s not, I’ll doublecheck that. The other node is checking it out ok.

Hi Glacierise,

I t happens to me too sometimes. I have 10 computers and 9 licenses. When I want to switch my license from one to another sometimes the license sticks to a slave even if the slave is off. I then go the lmtools and restart the license server and everything goes back to normal.

Hi Strob,

I’m seeing the licenses free in lmtools. I’ll have some time to mess with it on Monday

Hello,

Can you verify if the machine that can’t get a license is able to resolve the license server by it’s hostname? Sometimes DNS can be wonky. Thanks.

Cheers,

Hi,

Yes, I can ping the machine with the lic server ok, but none of the thinkbox products are finding the license, with firewalls off. It says it’s not finding the license server.

I’ve just had a similar issue, license installed on workstation, can ping from other machines using IP, hostname and FQDN but fails to check out license, even with Firewall turned off.

License checked out locally so it works but cannot access from other machines. Checked the server and there were errors with the DNS service failing as AD not configured.

Restarting workstation with license worked for a bit but as soon as DNS service failed again all the nodes lost licenses.

Got the license switched to the server (newly installed) and now everyone is up and running ( fingers crossed) If it fails again will have to look into configuring up the server.

Fixed! Turns out the firewall exception was done with our computers in a ‘work’ network. In the office move I set the connection on the lic server computer to a ‘public’ network by mistake, and the firewall was not letting lmgrd through. Fixing that solved it. Now why was it not working with the firewalls off, I have no idea
