SMTD Suggestion

I’d like to submit state sets with custom ranges, much like the old Scene State manager worked google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q … 5093631038.

Here is a mocked up image of what I was thinking.

You can already submit State Sets with different time ranges, as long as the time range is recorded as part of the State.
For this to work with SMTD, you MUST be using the “SAVE and Submit Current Scene File with the Job to the REPOSITORY” option under “Save File Submission Options”, because this mode loads the States during the submission process and will thus also respect Output Time changes.

For example,
*Load a new Max scene
*Open the Render Setup dialog and switch the Time Output to Range (0 - 100)
*Open State Sets dialog
*Enable Recording of the State01, then change the Time Output to Range 131-250.
*Create a State02, enable Recording for it, then change the Time Output to Range 121-130.
*Disable Recording.
*Open SMTD and submit
*In the Monitor, you will see that the first State job will have Tasks for frames 131 to 250, while the second State Job will have Tasks for 121 to 130.

I don’t think we can display the ranges in the SMTD list though, but I will have to investigate whether it is possible to easily find out what the time settings are without restoring the States.

Thank you.

I successfully submitted scene states. However, the SMTD doesn’t seem to like sub-states (See image). Also, I think it’d be most helpful for the SMTD to support the token output system Autodesk added. I understand Deadline has a “Add State Set Name to Output Filename” but I think the token system is better as it can place into folders. I also had a major exception, but I’ll raise that in a separate thread.
